Profile of the Programme
Goals and Objectives: 1.Mathematic, giving the ability to apply science and engineering knowledge of mechanical engineering problems, students prepare a successful career in engineering and Academician. 2.When system, component and process in accordance with relevant standards and limitations, as well as economy, efficiency, environmental and social impacts, taking into account the theoretical and practical knowledge necessary to give them to design. 3.Mechanical engineering problems, to identify, formulate, modeling, analyzing and solving skills needed to design and conduct experiments and gain the ability to analyze and interpret data. 4.This purpose, the necessary modern engineering, computing and presentation equipment to be able to use. 5.Mechanical engineering part of the world-class, the adequacy of MÜDEK have become a part.
Program Structure
This is Master’s Degree Programme (Second-Cycle) with thesis in Mechanical Engineering. The programme lasts two-academic years with 4 semesters and 120 ECTS. The regular programme consists of 7 courses of 21 local credits, a seminar and a thesis. Both the course work and thesis have 60 ECTS credits each. Upon a request by the programme director, the institute may also require the prospective student to enrol on additional courses if his/her background is not considered to be sufficient to follow the programme requirements. The graduate programme of the Department of Mechanical Engineering is designed to meet the demands of specialized computer scientists and engineers in the industry and in higher education and also of the qualified students from various academic disciplines to pursue advanced level education. Graduate students may also specialize in various areas of Mechanical Engineering such as Algorithms and Data Structures, Distributed Systems, Graphics, Operating Systems, Programming Languages, Natural Language Processing and Modelling and Simulation. Graduate students who fulfil the requirements of the programme at Karabuk University are granted the degree of Master of Science (M.Sc.) in Mechanical Engineering. Graduate Students in this programme must demonstrate sufficient competency in Mechanical Engineering by satisfying the enhanced coursework requirements as well. The graduate programme also accepts foreign students if they meet the requirements of the programme.

Specific Admission Requirements
TURKISH STUDENTS Turkish citizens, who are willing to study Master of Arts (MA) Degree in this programme, must comply with the legal and educational requirements of the Council of Higher Education (YÖK) as well as with the regulations for Graduate Education at Karabuk University. Information on application for graduate programs and admission requirements are announced on the web page of the university at the beginning of each academic year. In order to study in the graduate programme, the students are required to take the exam called “ALES” (the Academic Personnel and Postgraduate Education Entrance Exam), which is intermittently organized by the Assessment, Selection and Placement Centre (OSYM). The accepted score is 60 out of 100 according to the nature of the programme. If they apply with their undergraduate diploma, the ALES score must be at least 70 out of 100. Besides, the score of the international recognized exams such as GRE or GMAT is also accepted as equivalent for ALES. Moreover, the students, willing to study in this graduate programme, must submit the score of 55 out of 100 from the foreign language exam organized by the Assessment, Selection and Placement Centre (OSYM). The applicants have to meet additional program requirements defined by each academic programme. FOREIGN STUDENTS The graduate programme also receives foreign students if they meet admission requirements. Foreign students must provide the following documents: • The high school diploma recognized by the Higher Education Council of Turkey (YÖK) • An acceptable ALES or GRE score. If the candidates do not have any of these scores, an entrance exam is given by the institute, and they must get the score of 70 out of 100. • An acceptable score from the Turkish language Learning Centre (TÖMER) with the level of A or B. If they do not have the satisfactory Turkish language score, they must take the Turkish language exam organized by the institute and get 70 out of 100. If they received their secondary education in Turkey, they are not asked to submit the Turkish language score. Recognition of Prior Learning

Graduation Requirements
The students who study in the programme are required to fulfil the following graduation requirements in order to get the Master of Science (M.Sc.)Degree: • The students must pass all the credited courses with at least a letter grade CB, together with non-credited courses with at least the letter grade G • They must obtain a total of 120 ECTS Credits. • They must achieve a Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of at least 65 out of 100 or of at least 2.50 out of 4.00. • They must be successful in their seminars • They must prepare the MSc thesis and defend it successfully. Qualification Awarded
Upon successful completion of all the necessary courses in the curriculum, the students are awarded Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering.

Access to Further Studies
Upon successful completion of this programme, students may apply to doctorate (third cycle) degree programmes in or related fields. According to Article 2/a of the National Regulations on Graduate Education, students are admitted to third cycle programmes taking into account their first and second cycle degree achievement levels and the scores on the subject-specific entrance examinations of the Academic Personnel and Postgraduate Education Entrance Exam (ALES), centrally organized by the Assessment, Selection and Placement Centre (OSYM). Within the framework of the national regulations, regulations endorsed by the senate of each university stipulate the weight of ALES Examination results in the overall evaluation of candidates. Moreover, a second national requirement to apply for a third cycle degree programme is a satisfactory level of a foreign language, which must be 55 out of 100 from the Foreign Language Examination (UDS) or 65 from the Foreign language Proficiency Examination for State Employees (KPDS) organized by the Assessment, Selection and Placement Centre (OSYM) or the equivalent scores obtained from other internationally recognised foreign language examinations such as TOEFL and IELTS.
